Year 2

First term has seen us hit the ground running! Our year two children have quickly adapted to routines and expectations as they rise to the challenges of year 2 – their final year in the lower primary department.

Our maths has seen us focus on number and numeration. We have investigated the place value of two and three-digit numbers, practised ordering and sequencing numbers and developed mental and written strategies to aid our addition and subtraction.

Throughout the term we have studied non-chronological reports. After reading a variety of these text types we were able to identify the features of reports and develop ideas to write our own reports about Australian animals.

Our integration studies unit has allowed us to delve into the past and study the Indigenous cultures of Australia. We have learned about the nomadic lifestyle led by Australia’s indigenous tribes, and we have studied significant sites and traditions within their culture.

We are delighted with year two’s effort this term and proud of the maturity they have shown in such a short time. We look forward to seeing their progression in term two.
